A project is one app. It holds everything Iron Octopus needs to build that app well: the code, the architecture it’s built to, the rules it follows, and all the work you’ve asked for.

What it contains

  • A repository with your app’s code. Iron Octopus manages it for you, and the code is yours.
  • An architecture, the blueprint every feature is planned to fit.
  • Initiatives and features: the work you’ve asked for, planned, in progress and released.
  • Defect reports for problems you’ve found.
  • Project settings, including the rules this project follows. A project starts with your workspace’s rules, and you can change them for this project alone.

Its name and key

Each project has a name and a short project key, such as BKG. The key prefixes everything in the project, so a feature’s ID reads BKG-F012 and a work item’s BKG-W031.

Where you see it

  • Your projects are listed in the left rail of the app. The project you’re in expands to show its active features.
  • Each project has its own page, with its features, architecture, defect reports and work in progress.

What you can do

  • Create a project for each app you build.
  • Start with an idea in the project.
  • Set up its architecture.
  • Connect your own GitHub repository, if you’d rather.
  • Change a rule for this project.
