# Plans and billing

> The Pioneer plan and its price lock, how seats and AI are billed, and how to manage payment, seats and cancellation.

Iron Octopus has one plan at launch: **Pioneer**. It's for the first group of customers, and its price and features are locked for as long as you stay subscribed.

Pioneers also get a say in the roadmap.

Pioneer includes every capability in Iron Octopus, including changing rules for the workspace and each project, customizable architecture, workspace SSO and priority support. Your plan details, emailed when you subscribe, list everything included.

> If you cancel and rejoin later, you choose from the plans available then. The Pioneer lock doesn't carry over.

## How billing works

* **Billed in advance**, monthly, and renews automatically until you cancel. Prices don't include applicable taxes.
* **Payments are handled by Stripe.** Iron Octopus never sees or stores your full card number.
* **Extra people** are charged pro rata for the rest of the billing period from the day you add them.
* **AI** is included. Overage beyond your allowance is only charged if the workspace Owner authorizes it, up to a monthly limit. See [included AI](https://docs.ironoctopus.ai/ai/included-ai.md).

## Manage billing

Only the workspace **Owner** can change billing. Go to Workspace settings › **Billing**. The page shows your plan and **Included capabilities**. Plan terms are pinned to the version you purchased.

| Add or remove paid seats | Under **Seats**, set **Additional seats**, then click **Update paid seats**. |
| Update your card, or see invoices | Click **Manage subscription** › **Payment method and invoices**. This opens Stripe's secure billing portal. |
| Cancel | Click **Cancel at period end**. Your subscription runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then stops. Partial periods aren't refunded. |
| Undo a cancellation | Click **Resume subscription** before the period ends. Your Pioneer lock continues. |

## If a payment fails

Iron Octopus tells you and retries the payment. If it's still unpaid 14 days later, the workspace may be suspended until it's paid. Your content isn't deleted because of a failed payment without at least 30 days' further notice. Update your card in the billing portal to fix it.

## If something goes wrong

| **Billing portal could not be opened** | Try again. If it keeps failing, contact support. |
| **Seat quantity could not be updated** | Check you're the Owner, then try again. |
